Bringing a touch of West End sparkle to the ball, Abbie Budden has been announced in the title role of Cinderella at Orchard West's magical family pantomime Cinderella this winter.
Popular TikTok star Abbie has built up an impressive following of 1.5 million, working with brands including Netflix, Disney, BBC, Amazon Prime Video and Lionsgate. A West End favourite, she most recently appeared in Cruel Intentions (The Other Palace & UK Tour).
As she prepares for her third pantomime season, Abbie said: “Panto season is one of my favourite times of year and I cannot wait to spend my Christmas at the Orchard Theatre, with such a phenomenal cast. I’m thrilled to be returning alongside Ben Goffe as Buttons, who I did Panto with last Christmas! Cinderella has been a dream role for me since I was little, I have fond memories of receiving a Cinderella dress for Christmas when I was 4, so it’s going to be really magical. And how special that we get to be part of reopening the Orchard too. Can’t wait to see you all at the ball!”
Abbie joins the previously announced pantomime legend Joe Pasquale, musical theatre star Keith Jack, award-winning comedian Ben Goffe, magical Fairy Godmother Vanessa Dumatey, and the outrageously glamorous and hilarious Gareth Mitchell and Garnon Davies.
Orchard West and producer, Imagine Theatre, are also searching for local stars to join this stellar cast in the spotlight, with open auditions taking place for both the junior and adult ensemble on 11 July (juniors) and 14 July (adults). No professional experience is required, just confidence, enthusiasm and plenty of personality. You can find out more on the venue website.
Tal Rosen, Theatre Director at The Orchard Theatre said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the incredibly talented Abbie Budden to lead the cast of Cinderella as we prepare to reopen The Orchard Theatre this Christmas. It’s a truly special moment for us, and there’s no better production to celebrate our return than the magic of pantomime. Alongside a fantastic professional cast, we’re especially excited to once again offer local performers the opportunity to share our stage. Our junior and adult ensemble auditions are all about discovering local talent and giving our community the chance to be part of this landmark production. We can’t wait to welcome audiences old and new back through our doors and celebrate this exciting new chapter together.”
Steve Boden, Joint CEO and Managing Director of Imagine Theatre, added: "Every year, we're blown away by the talent we discover at our open auditions. We firmly believe opportunities like this should be open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of previous experience or training. What we're really looking for are performers with energy, imagination, confidence and that extra pantomime sparkle!"
Cinderella dreams of a happier life, away from the torment of her wicked stepsisters. When a magical Fairy Godmother appears at her door, Cinderella is transformed and whisked away in a pumpkin coach to the castle to dance the night away with the Prince. But when the clock strikes midnight, she flees – leaving only a glass slipper behind… Will Cinderella find her happy ever after in time?
